"BIG OE" EVENINGS FOR THOSE HEADING TO UK
It's no secret that every year many New Zealand medical workers, including pharmacists, pack their bags and head to the UK to work.
Each year to support NZ pharmacists and others planning on living, working, studying or holidaying in the UK, the British High Commission organises a series of "Big OE" evenings in major centres around the country. The aim of the evenings is to equip New Zealanders with all the information they need to know before they go, making the move to the "unknown" an easier step.
Around 7000 young New Zealanders travel to the UK under the Working Holiday Scheme annually, and another 3500 depart under the four-year ancestral visa. This doesn't include those New Zealanders entitled to a UK passport, or the 150,000 New Zealanders who go to the UK on holiday each year.
The "Big OE" evenings will be held in Dunedin (March 11), Christchurch (March 12), Wellington (March 13), Auckland (March 14), Christchurch (April 29), Wellington (April 30), Hamilton (May 1) and Auckland (May 2).
