GSK A TOP WORKPLACE
GlaxoSmithKline is rated as one of New Zealand's top 20 places to work. In an independent survey involving more than 6000 employees GSK was placed seventh.
Important factors in its high rating were the in-house training department with four full-time training staff, and a commitment to providing a challenging and satisfying working environment.
Human resource consultants John Robertson and Associates designed the survey for Unlimited magazine and said that being a good employer is simply good business.
They get loyalty, commitment, and pride in the company, and a willingness to seek solutions not problems, to be creative and innovative, and to work hard."
GSK managing director Peter Schweikert was pleased with the result and attributes some of the staff satisfaction to a policy of personal responsibility. "All we have done is remove the shackles and let people make the decisions that affect them," he said.
