22 March 2002 News Update

CHILDREN'S SPACERS FUNDED

A new spacer device for children has been given full funding on the Pharmaceutical Schedule.

The Space Chamber spacer has a child's silicone mask to help ensure the correct dose of inhaler is delivered. The device enables children to inhale the dose of medication more gradually, which will suit children who find inhalers difficult to use.

Pharmac has reached an agreement with Air Flow, a subsidiary company of the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation of New Zealand, to reduce the price of its peak flow meter, Breath-Alert.
