YEAR OF VOLUNTEERS CERTIFICATE
GlaxoSmithKline group product manager, Suzanne Subritzky, has been awarded an International Year of Volunteers certificate for her contribution to the Epilepsy Association of New Zealand Auckland branch. The certificate came with a personal message of thanks from Colin Reive, the director of the Auckland branch, and the appreciation and best wishes of the Honorable Judith Tizard, MP for Auckland Central, and Christine Fletcher former Mayor of Auckland.
Auckland director Mr Reive said "Suzanne is very modest about her voluntary effort so we arranged her nomination and award without her knowledge. She is the kind of person who would suddenly become rather unavailable if she knew of our intentions.
"Without Suzanne's and GlaxoSmithKline's support and hard work the Auckland branch would have great difficulty in achieving its goals. It has allowed us to undertake a huge number of additional activities for people with epilepsy that otherwise would not have been possible."
Suzanne Subritzky has been responsible for securing GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) continued support for the organisation in a wide range of activities from sponsorship of educational videos for those working with epilepsy clients, to organising and financing an association website. GSK have also supported patient meetings and the association newsletter, and have helped to bring medical personnel and Epilepsy Association representatives together to improve the management of the condition. Another important initiative was sponsorship and support of the association's vehicles as many people with epilepsy are unable to drive because of their illness. As a result the association staff are often reliant on transport to contact their patient groups and the support of GSK has helped to maintain this service.
