SCOTT GETS GO-AHEAD

National Health spokesperson Dr Lynda Scott has been successful in her call for an enquiry into the proposed trans-Tasman agency to regulate therapeutic products.

"I wanted the enquiry because I don't believe there's any justification for the enormous compliance costs this plan would impose," she says.

The select committee will carry out an independent risk analysis on the use of dietary supplements and alternative medicines, the costs issues and regulatory regimes in other countries.
