30 November 2001 News Update

2001 GENESIS ENERGY FAIR

The 2001 Genesis Energy National Science and Technology Fair is on from 3-8 December at Exscite, Hamilton. The winners from each regional and school science fair will be there - 26 young people in total.

The stakes are high. The prizes include overseas travel, and scholarships, and the two premier winners will have the choice of attending the USA Space Camp in Alabama, or the London International Youth Forum.

The fair manager, Debbie Chan says that there is an increase in the number of technology exhibits this year.

One invention is a safety walking stick that has a light and an alarm for when the elderly user falls over and needs help.
