PHARMACIST CHARGED

Auckland pharmacist Kerry Bell will appear in Auckland District Court early next year on charges of selling prescription medicines by wholesale without a wholesale licence.

The Ministry of Health is bringing the charges for breaches of Section 17 of the Medicines Act.

Meanwhile his appeal against the Pharmaceutical Society's suspension and fine for professional misconduct is into its six month.

Early this year the society's disciplinary committee found the Kingsland pharmacist guilty on three counts of professional misconduct related to the operation of his internet pharmacy.

The committee handed down a three-year suspension and $60,000 in fines and costs.

Kerry Bell has appealed not only the fine and suspension, but also the decision.
