SHOCK RESULTS ON COMPLIANCE

During Guardian's recent "Mastering Your Asthma" promotion, pharmacist Grahame Hamblin was understandably shocked to discover 100% non-compliance from asthmatic customers.

The promotion ran for three weeks at Hamblins Pharmacy, Pakuranga, involving 20-25 minute consultations.

"When the idea was suggested, I thought it was silly that we might find one or two who were not taking their medication correctly. But when we found 100% non-compliance, we knew something was wrong.

"It's sheer lack of education. No one had explained their medication before," he says.

Hamblins Pharmacy was not an exception. Guardian general manager Gillian Moore says they had similar stories from the other 23 pharmacies involved in the promotion.
